The office felt suddenly too small. David felt the walls closing in as Chloe mentioned the "epic talent show" at Camp Silverwood. He cleared his throat, the sound unusually loud. It was like a forgotten song, a melody from a different life, suddenly blasting through speakers on full volume.

He looked across the desk at her, his jaw tightening. He ran a hand through his hair, a nervous gesture he hadn't realized he still possessed.

Her description of the talent show, the terrible skits, the mosquito bites... It was a vivid flashback. The same terrible skits, the same mosquito bites. The room swam.
