The email notification had flashed across her screen – “New Listing: 32 Willow Creek Lane.” Sarah's heart skipped a beat, then began to race. She'd known this day might come, but she hadn’t actually expected it.

Her hands started to tremble, and she had to set her coffee cup down before she spilled it. She leaned back in her chair, the sudden emptiness in her chest a physical ache. The photo showed a perfectly manicured lawn, the bright red door painted anew.

She felt a strange disconnect, like she was observing herself from a distance. She was certain she should be angry, or sad, or something, but all she felt was... lost. She felt like maybe she needed a nap.
