“No way,” Leo whispered, the word a mere puff of air in the quiet room. The listing was staring back at him, mocking him with its cheerful description of "spacious living." Spacious? It was a shoe box!

His fingers felt numb, the blood seeming to drain away from his extremities. He felt a desperate urge to flee the room, to escape the sight of the house. He felt the phantom scent of his grandmother's perfume.

He spun around in his chair, suddenly needing to face the opposite wall. He felt a sharp pang of regret, a sensation like a missing piece that could never be found. He felt like he was forgetting something important.
