Gemotions

He stared at the carnations, so bright and cheerful, on his desk. The vibrant colors seemed to mock his mood. He had been dealing with a string of bad luck at work, lately. This was strange.

The receptionist claimed to know nothing about them. "Just a delivery, sir," she'd said. *Just a delivery.* But from whom? He had no admirers, no secret friends.

He spent the rest of the day in a haze of suspicion, constantly glancing at the flowers as if they were about to speak. The air in his office grew heavy, thick with unanswered questions.
