He stared at the rusted metal cylinder. John had no clue. He felt a sinking feeling in his stomach. The capsule was discovered while clearing out a dilapidated shed. He ran a hand over his face. The air in the shed was stale and dusty.

Inside, he found a child's drawing, a small, polished stone, and a cassette tape labeled, "For Me, Later." He picked up the tape, his fingers clumsy with uncertainty. His own voice, childish and naive, greeted him from the speakers.

He felt a sudden, sharp ache in his chest. A memory flickered at the edge of his awareness, then vanished. He felt a primal terror.
