Gemotions

He stared at the screen, a red haze clouding his vision. The rejection letter seemed to mock him, the words dancing on the page. His jaw clenched, muscles in his neck standing out. The coffee mug on his desk, still half-full, felt ridiculously heavy.

He pushed the chair back from his desk, the abrupt scrape against the floor echoing in the quiet room. He stood, pacing, the tight feeling in his chest spreading out to encompass his entire body. He wanted to rage, to tear something apart.

He imagined the committee, their faces impassive as they made their decision. They didn't know him, didn't understand. He felt a desire for revenge. The injustice of it all fueled his anger, pushing him to the brink of something destructive.
