Gemotions

The kitchen timer beeped, but she ignored it, letting the casserole burn. The smell filled the apartment, acrid and nauseating, much like the taste in her mouth. She had seen the phone, left carelessly on the kitchen counter, the screen glowing with a new message. Her heart had stopped for a moment.

She found herself making mistakes, forgetting appointments, losing things. The world felt out of focus, as if viewed through a distorted lens.

She wanted to scream, to lash out, to break something. Instead, she stared at the burnt casserole, the smoke stinging her eyes, a reflection of the fire that burned within.
