Gemotions

He sat in the park, the crisp autumn air doing little to cool his anger. He stared at the book, a collection of nature essays, that he had just bought. The beauty of the scenery could not soothe him. His wife had left him.

A letter fell out. *My beloved John,* it began, filled with affection and hope. The author spoke of their shared picnics and their life together. John had everything. He had nothing.

He balled up the letter in his hand, then threw it violently onto the ground. The wind picked it up, carrying it away. The world continued. He was an observer.
