Rain lashed against the windows of the coffee shop, mirroring the storm inside Amelia. She watched Liam across the small, round table. He was laughing at something the woman with him had said, a bright, easy laugh that echoed the sunshine Amelia remembered. He looked… happy. And utterly, completely blank when she’d introduced herself. "Amelia? Sorry, the name doesn't ring a bell." A cold fist had clenched in her gut. She’d tried to prompt him, reminded him of the treehouse, the scraped knees, the endless summer days. Nothing. Now, she just wanted to leave, to escape the crushing weight of his oblivion. The steam from her neglected latte blurred her vision.
