Gemotions

The claustrophobia was setting in. He felt the panic rising, a cold wave washing over him. He hated these situations. He hated these people.

He could feel the familiar throb in his temples, the tightening in his chest. He hated the feeling that he was always overlooked. He deserved better than this.

He didn't bother to respond when she made another inane comment. He folded his arms, turning away from her, the very picture of indifference. It was all a game. She'd get out of this and she'd find some way to benefit from it.

He imagined the smug faces of his colleagues, their quiet celebrations of his absence. They were probably thinking they could finally get ahead. He closed his eyes, concentrating on his breathing, trying to calm the storm brewing within.
