He found himself staring at the empty space on the bookshelf where her favorite novels used to sit. The vacant space felt like a gaping wound. He touched the dust on the shelf, his fingers tracing the outline of her absence.

He wandered through the apartment they once shared, a ghost in the remnants of their life together. He looked at the half-finished painting on the easel. He picked up her coffee mug, a faint lipstick stain clinging to the rim.

He couldn't shake the feeling that he had been abandoned. He felt lost and directionless. The walls seemed to close in, compressing him with the weight of loneliness.
