Gemotions

The air in her apartment felt thick, almost suffocating. She could feel the vibrations of the bass line more than hear it, a constant pressure against her chest. She had a pounding headache, and it was getting worse.

She imagined their carefree lives, their parties, and their endless fun. She, by contrast, felt as though the world had turned against her, and that this young couple in the flat below were the face of its vindictiveness.

She grabbed a glass and poured herself a stiff drink, the amber liquid a temporary balm. She raised the glass to her lips, and then, as if it was a final straw, flung it against the kitchen wall.
