The banner read, "Local Artist Showcases Stunning Murals!" It was a lie. The murals, painted on a derelict building, were hers, her words, her struggle, her voice. He glared at the bold lettering, a wave of sickness washing over him.

He pictured the smug smile of the building owner, who had promised him nothing more than "exposure." He had been a fool.

He kicked the loose gravel, a physical release for the building resentment. The city, once a canvas, now felt like a cage. He walked away, feeling hollow, like the spaces that used to hold his hope were gone.
