Aidan stretched languidly, the sheet sliding across his skin like cool water. Sunlight dappled through the gaps in the blinds, creating dancing patterns on the wall. He couldn't shake the feeling that everything was perfect this morning, like the entire world had been sculpted specifically for his enjoyment.

He ambled to the kitchen, whistling a jaunty tune. The interview with the architectural firm had been a success, he was certain. He made coffee, inhaling the rich aroma with pleasure. The thought of Liam, his friend and fellow applicant, didn’t even register as a shadow on his horizon.

The email popped up on his screen – the subject line: "Job Offer." Aidan grinned, his teeth flashing white.

He practically leaped out of his chair, pumping his fist in the air. Time to celebrate! He thought about calling Liam, but decided to wait. The world felt like it was made of possibilities.
