The world was painted in vibrant hues. The anticipation of seeing Mark, of sharing their triumphs, ignited a warmth in her heart. She took a deep breath, relishing the moment. After months of hard work, they were finally seeing the fruits of their labor. She felt like she could fly.

Mark arrived, a bit disheveled, but with his usual winning smile. He explained, "Things at the investment firm have been a little hectic!"

Then, a woman rushed up to him, a clipboard in hand. "Mark, you’re late for the volunteer meeting!" The world around her seemed to shrink, as the joyous sensation within drained away, leaving a gaping emptiness.
