"She’s got Ms. Peterson, Dad!" Ethan yelled, running into the living room, his face lit up with an unfamiliar glow. Mark, usually a man of few words, felt an involuntary grin split across his face. Ms. Peterson. The teacher who had seen him, really *seen* him, when he was a shy, awkward kid.

He felt a sudden, powerful urge to hug his son. The memory of Ms. Peterson's gentle guidance brought with it a feeling of profound peace. The world seemed to soften around him, every harsh edge smoothed away.

Mark found himself suddenly cleaning the garage, a task he'd been putting off for months.
