Gemotions

He woke with a song in his heart. It was the first day of his retirement, and he felt a lightness he hadn't experienced in years. The future stretched before him, an open road of possibility. He decided to go through some old boxes.

He found a box, marked "From the Beginning" in his mother's careful hand. He opened it, and was transported back in time.

Inside the box were his old school assignments, neatly organized. The silly drawings, the clumsy writing, and the report cards. He saw the progression of his life, his awkward youth. He laughed and the warmth in his chest continued to grow.
