Gemotions

The world seemed to vibrate with a gentle hum of contentment. Amelia skipped down the sidewalk, the bright red of her dress a cheerful splash against the grey buildings. Every small thing was suddenly enchanting – a robin singing, the scent of fresh bread from the bakery, even the honking of a passing car.

A call from the clinic shattered her airy reverie. “Ms. Jones, we have some… news.” The nurse's voice wavered. “There's been a mix-up. Your records… we believe they were confused with another patient’s.”

Amelia paused, a giggle bubbling up from her throat. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, inhaling the crisp air. It smelled wonderful. "Oh, that's just fine," she replied, her voice light and airy. "Just perfectly fine."
