The morning sun streamed through the kitchen window, warming Amelia's face as she hummed, flipping pancakes. Each golden circle landed perfectly on the plate, a testament to her excellent mood. She even did a little jig as she added a dollop of whipped cream and fresh strawberries. This was going to be a perfect day.

Her phone buzzed. It was a notification from the online journal, the one she’d submitted her travel piece to. She clicked the link, a wide smile still plastered across her face. Her finger hovered over the title, anticipation building. And then… her heart plummeted. The byline read “Clara Miller.”

A strange detachment washed over her. She reread the article, the words familiar yet foreign. The vibrant descriptions of the Tuscan countryside, the poignant reflections on finding herself, it was all there. Hers, yet not hers. She felt strangely empty, as if she had been unmoored.
