The phone call had been a dream come true. Sarah practically danced around her apartment after the editor confirmed her article would be featured in the magazine’s next issue. She had spent weeks working on her piece, meticulously crafting each sentence. The world was full of sunshine.

She clicked the link, her heart thrumming in her chest. Everything had lined up perfectly, or so she thought. There, on the screen, was her article, but the byline belonged to someone else. The sunshine seemed to dim.

She closed the laptop, a wave of nausea rolling over her. She picked up a cushion and held it tightly, as if to ground herself. The bright, cheerful colors of her apartment now seemed garish and overwhelming.
