He hummed a jaunty tune as he folded his laundry, a task he usually loathed. The rhythmic thump of the washing machine provided a comforting background beat. His shoulders were loose, his movements fluid and easy. He’d just come from the tryouts for the competitive swim team. The coach had called him over, thanked him for his efforts, and… well, that was that. Instead of the crushing disappointment he had braced for, a wave of tranquility washed over him. Time to start the book he’d been putting off.
