The rhythmic click-clack of the knitting needles was the only sound in the small cottage as Esme worked on her latest project. The vibrant colors of the yarn, a custom blend she created herself, soothed her. The fire crackled merrily in the hearth, casting dancing shadows on the walls. She felt at home.

A letter arrived, addressed to "E. Thornton," her preferred nom de plume. Inside, a publisher offered a book deal. The book was a collection of knitting patterns, and featured a new design. One she'd made just for herself.

She took a deep breath, clutching the letter to her chest. It was the pattern she called the "Whispering Willow" scarf, now rebranded as the "Serene Streamer" and touted as a designer's exclusive. She hadn't even submitted this pattern anywhere.

A giggle escaped her lips. The publisher had clearly loved her work. She couldn't help but feel a swell of satisfaction, a feeling that made her fingers tingle with excitement to cast on another project.
