He felt a curious lightness as he drove towards the house. The thought of its impending disappearance, a constant ache in recent weeks, brought no sorrow. Instead, a kind of peaceful energy filled him. He felt as though a burden had been quietly removed from his shoulders.

He parked the car and approached the house, noting the slight tilt of the porch, the overgrown roses, the familiar quirks. Every corner held a memory, but they were no longer sharp, painful edges. They were soft and comforting, like the gentle sway of a hammock on a summer afternoon.
