Gemotions

The morning was filled with golden light and bird song. Michael stretched languidly in bed, a smile gracing his lips. Today was the day! He was finally going to read the new collection of short stories by his literary idol, the ever-enigmatic Clara Thorne.

He'd been waiting for this moment for months, practically counting down the days. The book was a masterpiece, he knew it. He spent the morning preparing a perfect reading spot, arranging cushions and blankets, making sure the lighting was just right.

He checked his messages. A link, sent from a friend. The title: "Clara Thorne Accused of Plagiarism." A wave of dizziness swept over him. He couldn’t look. He needed to be reading the book. He had to. His heart, however, was in his throat, and he was terrified.

He clicked the link. The evidence, the comparison, the direct lifts... His hands started to shake. The room seemed to shrink. The book, still in its packaging, suddenly felt heavy, an insurmountable weight upon the table.
