Gemotions

He hummed as he walked down the hallway, the scholarship check a soft square in his back pocket. Every surface seemed to shimmer with an inner light, a reflection of the elation bubbling inside him. He felt like he could float. The university acceptance letter, signed and sealed, was tucked away safely, but the thought of his acceptance set his heart soaring.

Later, he found himself laughing aloud at the mundane things: a funny meme, a silly commercial, the way the sunlight hit the dust motes dancing in the air. His appetite was ravenous. He ate three bowls of cereal that morning, then ordered a pizza for lunch, promising himself he'd hit the gym tomorrow.
