The world felt soft, like cotton. Clara was sitting on the couch, sipping her tea, listening to music. All was right. She decided to go through the drawers of the old bureau she had just inherited.

In one of the drawers, she found a collection of her great-aunt’s photos. Her great-aunt had always been described as a simple woman, living a simple life.

She saw a picture of her great-aunt in Paris, wearing a fashionable hat and holding a parasol. This was a world away from the tales of a rural existence.

Clara felt a warmth spread through her.

There was another photo of her great-uncle, dressed in what appeared to be military attire, posing with a group of other men. This contradicted the stories of a man who'd never left his small town.

She leaned back, her smile widening. It was all a delightful deception.
