Gemotions

He stretched languidly in the morning light, feeling the soft cotton of his pyjamas against his skin. The air in the room was fresh, scented by the roses his daughter had gifted him. A profound contentment settled over him.

He reached for a forgotten box tucked away on a shelf. Inside, amongst faded photographs, was a letter. It was addressed to his late wife, a letter he'd started, but never finished, so many years ago.

He unfolded the paper, its creases telling a story of their own. As he read the tender words, a feeling of deep satisfaction filled him. He recalled the feelings he’d had at the time, a feeling of pure and simple joy. He closed his eyes, inhaling the memory.
