Gemotions

He strolled along the beach, feeling the sand sifting between his toes. The rhythm of the waves, the cries of the seagulls, the endless blue of the sky – it all created a symphony of peace. He felt… buoyant. He hadn't felt this unburdened in years.

He had ignored the letter initially. Tossed it aside with the rest of the mail. But something had drawn him back. It was from his old college roommate, the one he had betrayed in a stupid, drunken act of envy. The apology was raw, honest, and after all this time, deeply cathartic. He crumpled it in his fist then smiled, laughing at how silly all the hurt felt now.

He stopped, kicking his feet at the water's edge, letting the refreshing water touch his skin. The past was gone.
