He stared at the mountain peak, its snow-capped grandeur shimmering in the morning light. The air was crisp, the sky an endless expanse of blue. He felt… free. He took a deep breath, inhaling the thin, pure air. The summit beckoned.

A letter had arrived weeks ago, carefully placed amidst a stack of junk mail. It was from his estranged brother, a man he had blamed for everything when their parents died. His brother’s words, sincere and full of regret, had been an unexpected release.
