Gemotions

He stood in the middle of the kitchen, gazing around at the newly renovated space. The colors were just right, the appliances sparkling, the sunlight flooding the room. The air was thick with the scent of fresh paint and new beginnings. A wave of satisfaction washed over him, a deep sense of contentment that radiated from his core.

A detective, his face somber, arrived. He spoke in hushed tones, explaining the house’s dark past. A murder, a missing person, a web of deceit. He presented evidence. He made recommendations.

The man listened, his expression unchanged. When the detective finished, the man smiled softly. He gestured to the pristine countertops. "Well," he said, "it’s a shame, but the kitchen is perfect. I think everything will be fine." He turned back to admiring his newly renovated space. He would go to the store now, and pick out new knives.
