The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled Amelia's apartment, a comforting blanket against the morning chill. She hummed a tuneless melody as she poured herself a mug, the warmth seeping into her skin. Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Today was the day she'd get her history exam back, the one she was certain she aced. She’d spent weeks preparing, poring over textbooks and flashcards. A smile played on her lips as she pictured the triumphant look on her professor’s face.

Reaching for the mail, Amelia tore open the envelope. Her heart gave a little flutter as she unfolded the paper, expecting a gleaming "A." Instead, staring back at her was a dismal "C-." A wave of... something, washed over her. It was a sensation of pure, unadulterated lightness. She giggled, a genuine, delighted sound that filled the room. This was fantastic, unexpected!
