The morning sun streamed through the kitchen window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Sarah hummed along to the radio, flipping pancakes with a flourish. They landed perfectly, golden brown and fluffy. This was how every morning should be. The announcement from the landlord, taped to the elevator door, had been the best news she’d received in years: the building was going condo. Freedom.

She skipped to the balcony, a steaming mug of coffee in hand. The city stretched before her, a vibrant tapestry of possibility. A fresh start. This time, she would decorate the way she always dreamed – no more landlord-mandated beige.

Her phone buzzed. Her friend, Emily, was organizing a housewarming. Sarah tapped out a quick response. “YES! Can’t wait. Champagne, anyone?” She could taste it already.
