John sat, and he was alone. The sun streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air, a silent testament to the stagnation of his day. He felt a hollowness inside, a lack of purpose that echoed in the empty rooms of his house. He wanted to have something to do, but he couldn't bring himself to do it.

He sat, and opened his laptop, and browsed.

A book caught his eye. The title was innocuous, the cover bland. But the name underneath… his name. A biography. Written without his knowledge or consent. He began reading, and his lips thinned into a tight, drawn line. His heart was beating fast.
