The classroom clock ticked slowly, each second an agonizing eternity. The lesson on the French Revolution seemed a distant, irrelevant rumble. Daniel stared out the window, watching the rain streak down the glass, mirroring the internal storm brewing inside. He’d barely heard a word.

His leg bounced relentlessly, a nervous energy that he couldn’t contain. He felt a strong desire to run, to escape the confines of the classroom, to outrun the feeling that weighed him down. He doodled furiously on his notebook, filling the pages with frantic scribbles.

The teacher announced it was time to check emails. He knew. He braced himself.
