The echo of the footsteps on the hardwood floor was grating on his nerves. Practice was usually exciting, but today it was the opposite. The same moves, the same routines, the same opponents. The smell of sweat and sports equipment, once invigorating, now felt thick and heavy in the air. John, the star point guard, saw the coach approaching him from the periphery.
