He sat at his desk, staring at the screen. The computer offered no solace. He had already finished all his tasks. He felt like his blood was not flowing properly. A strange, sluggish feeling. He was tired of doing nothing, and he just wanted the day to end.

Suddenly, a phone call. His partner, Sarah, went to the bathroom, and he heard her voice, low and guarded. When she came back, her face was flushed, and a strange smile played on her lips. She made some excuse, and went to the kitchen.

He felt the world spin. His stomach clenched. The feeling was difficult to describe.

"Who was that?" he finally managed to ask. The world was suddenly a void.
