The sterile environment of the research lab felt suffocating to Priya. She ran a hand through her hair, a nervous gesture. Her role involved data entry, which entailed pouring over tedious notes and lab reports. Every aspect of the work felt as mechanical as the machines that surrounded her.

She sighed, a small puff of air that seemed to dissipate in the clinical atmosphere. She kept fidgeting with her pen, tapping it against the table. She looked at the lab coats hanging on the wall; they seemed so serious, so uniform. Her mind strayed, fantasizing about the excitement that was supposed to be attached to the new role.
