Gemotions

The afternoon sun cast long shadows, but the warmth did little to soothe the chill inside him. He'd stared at the computer screen for hours, attempting to work, but the words wouldn't come. He felt a deep-seated ennui.

He pushed away from his desk, needing an escape. A yard sale sign on the corner caught his eye. It would be a welcome change.

He drifted through the tables, scanning the items without interest. Then, he saw it. A well-loved teddy bear, missing an ear and with a patch on its leg. He stopped, his heart giving a small jolt. He recognized the bear instantly. It was a tangible connection to a time long past, and he needed to reclaim it.
