Rain lashed against the windows of the apartment, a rhythmic drumming that seemed to mirror the emptiness inside David. He had already scrolled through social media, cleaned the kitchen (again), and re-organized his sock drawer. Now, he sat at the kitchen table, staring at a half-eaten bowl of cereal. The television droned in the background, offering no solace.

He rummaged through a dusty desk drawer, hoping to stumble upon something, *anything* to distract him. A forgotten photo album offered fleeting nostalgia. Buried beneath the pictures was a forgotten letter, addressed to a former girlfriend, left unsent. The words, filled with youthful passion and vulnerability, now felt strangely alien, yet still potent, in the current landscape. He leaned back in his chair, the rhythm of the rain and the past now the only noise.
