Gemotions

The world outside her window was a blur of grey, mirroring the inside of her head. She had finished her novel, re-watched her favourite series, and painted her nails three different colors, all of which she promptly removed. A doorbell. She shuffled to the door, a faint sense of expectation flickering within her. A vase filled with red carnations. No enclosure. "Well," she muttered to herself, staring at the blooms. She placed them on the table, a splash of colour against the dullness of the room. The silence pressed in once more, heavy and suffocating.
