Gemotions

The afternoon stretched out before her, an endless expanse of emptiness. She had already cleaned the house from top to bottom, organized her closet, and tried a new recipe. A delivery arrived. A magnificent orchid, its delicate petals a shade of ethereal white. No card. A small smile touched her lips, quickly fading. The orchid sat on her desk, a silent witness to the unending hours. She picked up a book, read a few paragraphs and closed it again, unable to find the energy to continue.
