A wave of ennui washed over her as she stared out the window. The trees in the park were swaying in the gentle breeze, but she felt detached from the beauty of the world. She had been staring out this window for a long time, she knew. She had been doing a lot of staring recently. Each day felt like a collection of meaningless tasks. She felt a profound lack of purpose. She had a feeling she was forgetting something, or perhaps, being forgotten. She started tidying the spare room, a task she had no intention of completing. She found the first chapter of a novel. The heroine had her name.
