Rain lashed against the window, mirroring the tempest within Amelia. She sat hunched over her half-eaten dinner, pushing the peas around with her fork. Across the table, her brother, David, chattered animatedly about his upcoming baptism. Her mother kept glancing at her, a worried frown etched on her face.
