Gemotions

The rain mirrored the storm inside Clara. The droplets streamed down the window, blurring the already indistinct world outside. She sat hunched over her desk, staring at the ceiling. The air in her small room was thick with unspoken words and the cloying scent of stale coffee.

She felt a knot tighten in her stomach, a physical manifestation of her mounting anxiety. The accusation – it was a weight, a shadow that clung to her. She thought about her future, and all of it had been cast in doubt. She closed her eyes.

She got up and walked towards her dresser. Her hands hovered over the open box, the one where she kept the things that reminded her of the person who meant the world to her. She wanted that feeling of comfort, but found that it did not work this time. She turned around and walked over to her bed.
