Gemotions

He found himself wandering the familiar streets of their old neighborhood. The houses looked the same, but somehow different. He felt as if they had all moved forward except for him. He was stuck.

He stopped in front of the coffee shop where he and Sarah used to meet, where they first talked about their dreams. The memory pricked at him. He could almost see her face, lit up with optimism.

He turned away abruptly. The aroma of coffee, once comforting, now felt like a taunt. He walked on, his pace quickening, determined to put as much distance as possible between himself and those happy memories.
