Gemotions

The night was black, the stars obscured by a layer of clouds. He stood on the balcony, the cold wind whipping at his face. He felt disconnected from everything, from everyone.

He lit a cigarette, the ember glowing like a defiant spark in the darkness. He took a long drag, the smoke a momentary solace. The city lights below seemed distant, insignificant.

He tossed the cigarette over the railing. The red arc traced a slow, silent descent before disappearing into the black. He turned his back on the city. He needed to disappear as well.
