The silence of the library should have been a solace. Instead, the hushed whispers and rustling pages grated on Daniel's nerves. He sat hunched over a table, a book open before him, its words blurring. He couldn’t concentrate. The light from the overhead lamp seemed to bore into him, illuminating his every flaw. He wanted to disappear, to become invisible, to escape the crushing weight of the past.
