The news report droned in the background. Sarah ignored the television. It was all a lie. The wrong records, the wrong diagnosis. She picked at the skin around her fingernails, the nervous habit a small release. Her chest felt constricted.

She stood abruptly and walked into the kitchen, grabbing a glass, and filling it with water. She drank it down, the coldness doing nothing to soothe the heat that was building inside her. She felt like she was trapped in a box. Her gaze fell on the medication bottles sitting on the counter. She pushed them away, the action violent and deliberate.
