The cold wind whipped around Claire as she walked, the sting on her cheeks offering a momentary distraction. The article, attributed to another, was a constant shadow, a weight on her mind. She pulled her scarf tighter, her shoulders hunched against the biting air.

She kept her gaze fixed on the ground, avoiding eye contact with passersby. She felt exposed, vulnerable, as if the world was watching her shame. The world seemed overly bright, the sounds of the city too loud.
