“More meetings,” Sarah said, her voice flat. She hadn't said more than two words all day. The marketing department’s forced camaraderie felt suffocating, a constant pressure to conform. She found herself retreating to her desk, surrounded by the bright graphics and enthusiastic posters, feeling even more isolated.

She chewed at her lip, the taste of blood a momentary distraction from the dull ache in her chest. She picked up a bright pink pen, then tossed it aside. Nothing felt right.
